Australian MOOC platform makes big claim about completion rate

Paul Wappett, Open Universities Australia’s CEO, said the “academic quality of our subjects, high production values and most importantly, our learning, teaching and assessment model which is designed with the online student in mind” were among the reasons for Open2Study’s completion rate success.

“With one in five Open2Study students completing their study, we are proud to see that we are really engaging our students,” Wappett said. “We believe we understand the online student.”

Open2Study did not respond to an inquiry from eCampus News.

The company has seen more than 20,000 students sign up for classes since Open2Study launched in March, according to the announcement.

The Open2Study announcement said the company would offer upwards of 50 free MOOCs by the end of 2013.
