Four Akron residents have been indicted in federal district court on charges of using fake GED certificates to enroll in the University of Akron and get more than $104,000 in financial aid, the Plain Dealer reports. Charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud are: Lori A. Martin, 46; Raheem J. Martin, 40; Teresa K. Scott, 34; and Tina M. Mileca, 34. “These defendants cut corners to get money to which they were not entitled,” said Steven Dettelbach, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, in a news release. “Our office will continue to prosecute those who defraud the federal government.”
