TopSchool’s New White Paper Helps Institutions Navigate SLM Selection & Implementation

Denver, CO — July 12, 2012 — TopSchool, a leading SaaS provider of Student Lifecycle Management (SLM) solutions for higher education, has published a new white paper that highlights questions to ask and best practices in making sure institutions partner with the right SLM provider. This how-to guide outlines factors schools should consider prior to the vendor selection process, once they engage possible vendors and during implementation.

“More and more institutions are wanting to embrace an SLM approach to improve the way things get done, the rate at which they get done, and the cost to get them done,” said Justin Sloan, Vice President of Customer Solutions at TopSchool and author of the white paper. “Yet, with most vendors only providing select services along the student lifecycle, the selection and implementation process can be complicated. We want to make it easier for schools to better understand their current structure, ask the necessary questions and put a plan in place to successfully select and implement the right SLM partner.”

Institutions need to start with a solid understanding of their current structure in order to hone in on a solution that will enable them to tackle specific challenges. Sloan’s paper highlights numerous questions and best practices in recruitment, retention and placement, covering everything from the amount of time schools spend on lead reconciliation and student outreach; to the way they identify at-risk students; to the frequency in which they engage with students during the job interview and placement process.

The paper goes on to pose a series of questions that institutions should ask potential vendors, including everything from architecture, security and delivery, to outlook, vision, processes and customer approach. Finally, Sloan raises key considerations in the implementation process in terms of who should be involved, where and when it will take place, and how the team will work together.
