More than 1,500 education customers leverage the AirWatch platform, including two of the three largest U.S. school districts
AirWatch® by VMware, the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) provider, announces a completely redesigned interface and enhanced functionality for AirWatch® Teacher Tools™, an application that empowers educators to guide the learning experience effectively and improve classroom management. AirWatch is showcasing Teacher Tools at ISTE 2014 in Atlanta in booth #1048.
As part of AirWatch for Education, AirWatch Teacher Tools enables educational institutions to extend the real-time management capabilities from IT administrators to teachers. AirWatch completely redesigned the user interface based on customer feedback for a more intuitive classroom management experience. New features for Teacher Tools include simpler student registration, the option to create and dismiss classes, and the ability to facilitate communication between students and educators during instruction.
“Traditional teaching methods are significantly changing,” said Preston Winn, director of business development for education, AirWatch by VMware. “AirWatch Teacher Tools is a powerful resource that enables educators to integrate technology in the classroom and enhance how they interact with students and the curriculum.”
Additional Teacher Tools capabilities include All Eyes Up Front, a feature that removes distractions by locking devices during class instruction. Single Application Mode locks devices for a student, small group or an entire class into an application selected by the instructor for a specified amount of time. The Clear Passcode function enables teachers to instantly clear and reset a forgotten passcode without looking up the device serial number.
“At Coachella Valley Unified School District (CVUSD), our ongoing mobile initiative involves placing iPads secured by AirWatch in the hands of all teachers, students and faculty members,” said Israel Oliveros, mobile technology coordinator, CVUSD. “With AirWatch Teacher Tools, we can use these mobile devices to customize the way students are learning and engaging in the classroom. Teacher Tools provides a simple, streamlined way to further integrate technology into the classroom and provide our teachers and faculty with the resources needed to help students communicate, collaborate and think critically.”
With an education-specific research and development team, AirWatch enables educational institutions to utilize the latest mobile technologies. AirWatch is committed to the education industry with leading solutions that support more than 1,500 education customers, including two of the three largest school districts in the U.S. and three of the top five nationally ranked universities.
“The release of Teacher Tools will dramatically enhance our teacher’s ability to manage the iPads in their classrooms in a way that positively impacts learning. Teacher Tools demonstrates the AirWatch commitment to providing educators with tools that enable mobility and enhance teaching and learning,” said Todd Ryckman, chief educational technology officer, Santa Barbara Unified School District. “We are appreciative of our partnership with AirWatch and will continue to work with AirWatch to equip our teachers with the technology resources needed to enhance the great work they are already doing implementing the Common Core.”
