A quick scan of prices listed on textbook rental services’ web sites show students can save hundreds on some books. The Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology on Chegg’s site, for example, costs $60.99 to rent, a $147 savings off the retail list price.
BookRenter, a web-based company with a library of more than 3 million books, has a Microeconomics textbook available to rent for $37.70, about one-third of the list price. A book on criminal investigations can be rented for $50.09 through BookRenter, according to the web site. The full price of that book is $162.95.
