Acer America’s new S1385WHne professional series projector offers short-throw technology, 20W audio and wireless projection–features that the company says make it an excellent fit for auditoriums, lecture halls, classrooms, boardrooms, courtrooms and conference rooms.

Thanks to short-throw versatility and a native 16:10 aspect ratio, the Acer S1385WHne is capable of delivering images of up to 100 inches diagonally from as little as 3.4 feet from the screen, providing flexibility in placement options, a significant benefit for rooms with limited space.

With a 3200 ANSI lumens brightness and native WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution, it can also project clear images from a long distance on a large screen, even indoors during daylight. Two built-in 10W speakers deliver 20W sound.

Digital zoom and pan enable speakers to magnify details to make a point. Compatible with the Acer Smart Pen that communicates with the projector directly via RF, presenters and educators can leverage pen input to create an engaging and interactive experience in the classroom or conference room.

Using the pen, they can write on the projected images to emphasize aspects of their presentation and use it as a remote control to flip through slides. The pen can be used from up to 32 feet away from the screen, so those in the audience can use it to write on the projected image, while up to two users can write and draw simultaneously on the same screen.

The top-loading lamp design makes lamp replacement quick and easy, even when the projector is ceiling mounted. When used with the Crestron® web-based control console,(3) the Acer S1385WHne can be controlled remotely via a LAN. It also works with Crestron RoomView®, a resource management program providing facility-wide monitoring, control and reporting of audio-visual resources.

Multiple connectivity options include dual HDMI® ports – one with MHL connectivity for charging smartphones and tablets – as well as composite, s-video, and two sets of D-Sub and audio connectors, enabling connection to two PCs simultaneously for instant switching. Wireless projection provides flexibility in placement options and features a hidden dongle design to maintain the projector’s neat appearance.

The Acer S1385WHne professional series projector is available in the United States for $749 (MSRP).
