Company Continues to Build Impressive Roster of Education Industry Experts
Salt Lake City, UT – October 16, 2014 – Helix Education, a world class provider of student life cycle technologies and services, has hired university administrator and faculty member Cherron Hoppes as Chief Academic Officer and Vice President. Hoppes has served at both public and private institutions, most recently as Dean of Undergraduate Programs for the Ageno School of Business at Golden Gate University.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Cherron’s caliber join our team – not only does she bring an insightful voice from academia that will help shape our efforts, but she also has tremendous experience supporting students as they work toward degree completion,” said Matthew Schnittman, President and CEO of Helix Education.
Schnittman continued, “It is estimated that 31 million students have completed some college, but have no degree to show for it. One of our priorities here at Helix Education is to keep students engaged and progressing throughout the education life cycle. Cherron’s knowledge and ideas will help us deliver the solutions that keep students engaged and retained through graduation, supporting and reinforcing successful student outcomes.”
Hoppes is a veteran higher education professional with expertise across the student life cycle, including learning outcomes assessment, curriculum design, enrollment management, adult education, and student services. She also served as an adjunct faculty member. In addition to a Master of Public Administration, she holds a Doctorate of Education from The University of Alabama specializing in higher education administration.
In her new role at Helix Education, Hoppes will provide thought leadership for best practices in post-traditional, online and competency-based education models. She will lead the Helix Instructional Design Services team, develop learning outcomes assessment methodologies and research student success and completion trends.
Helix Education continues to build its roster with experts from the education space. It also recently hired T.J. Crowson as General Counsel. Previously, Crowson served as Associate General Counsel at Pearson and oversaw all legal affairs for the company’s global higher education business. He also served as Vice President of Legal Affairs and Technology Partnerships where he developed and managed Pearson’s Technology Partner program, in addition to supporting platform initiatives, technology development and acquisition, customer licensing, OPM, and higher education relationships. A graduate of The University of Texas, Crowson has also worked for PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and Media One.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with T.J. in the past and recognize his keen legal perspective, his diligent work ethic, and his thorough insight into the academic space. I’m grateful to have him on our team,” commented Schnittman.
