The University of Louisville last week announced it had shattered its goal of raising $1 billion, with three months to spare, reports U.S. News and World Report.
That’s a lot of money, particularly for public universities that have been cash-strapped and raising tuition and fees to compensate for a decrease in state support in recent years. Oregon State University did it in January, the Texas Tech University system reached its goal in February 2013 and the University of California, Davis surpassed $1 billion in November 2013.
