Package provides free learning edition license to undergraduate, graduate level students for a semester
OriginLab, a publisher of data analysis and graphing software, announced it will begin offering an OriginPro Coursework Package to students and instructors at the undergraduate and graduate levels of accredited academic institutions this coming semester.
Debuted at the American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting and Exposition, the package is available at a significantly discounted rate – a free semester license for students enrolled in a class and a one-year expiring license for instructors, for a fee of $100 per course. The instructor fee may be conditionally waived upon review by OriginLab.
Colleges and universities worldwide seeking to provide students with an immersive, preparatory research experience are using Origin software in the classroom to prepare their students for future careers in science and engineering. OriginLab created the OriginPro Coursework Package to address these needs at a price that lowers or eliminates fiscal hurdles students or institutions may have encountered.
In addition to the academic licensing, the program offers technical support to instructors, including assistance in the creation of course material.
Dr. Jay Deiner, New York City College of Technology, CUNY, who has used Origin software in his classes, said, “I believe that using Origin benefits the students because they learn how to use a sophisticated data analysis program that they may encounter in future work in academic research or in industry. It also enables them to extract much more information from the data they generate. Finally, it helps students understand that much of science is thinking and data analysis.”
Dr. C.P. Yang, OriginLab founder and CEO, said, “We are pleased to debut our offer of OriginPro to the next generation of scientists and engineers through the unique OriginPro Coursework Package during the ACS National Meeting and Exposition. By familiarizing students with data analysis and graphing in the classroom, academic institutions are ensuring that students are well-equipped to direct their own scientific research projects throughout their academic and eventual professional careers. OriginLab is committed to assisting science and engineering students in achieving their fullest potential.”
