Florida Tech will use that gift from Northrop Grumman to help engineering students complete required projects like designing and building rockets, race cars and robots, reports Florida Today. "Currently, we struggle to cover these costs out of the college, and the students themselves kind of fan out across out community and get parts from industries that contribute," said Thomas Waite, dean of the College of Engineering. On Tuesday, Northrop Grumman will present the donation at a ceremony featuring student projects involving race cars, robotics and rocketry. Students also will test fire a rocket engine. The $1 million endowment supports the newly named Northrop Grumman Engineering and Science Student Design Showcase, a project competition held for more than 40 years.
