PITTSBURGH, PA, October 1, 2009 – Carnegie Learning, Inc., publisher of innovative, research-based math solutions for middle school, high school and post-secondary students, reports that curricula, support, and services sales in the Commonwealth of Kentucky generated $1 million in sales in the first three quarters of 2009.

Two of the largest purchases were made by Corbin County Independent School District and Whitley County Schools, which adopted Carnegie Learning® Math Textbooks for high school students for the next six years. Green County, Mercer County, and Henry County Public Schools all purchased multiyear subscriptions of Carnegie Learning® Adaptive Software with Federal Education Stimulus Funding.

Carnegie Learning has a long history of implementation and student improvement in Kentucky. In May 2006, the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative purchased Carnegie Learning® Professional Development services for 31 districts; also in 2006, the Kentucky Department of Education implemented Carnegie Learning® Bridge to Algebra and Algebra I programs as part of a $1.2 million pilot program directed at improving middle school math performance in six districts including Clark, Madison, and Shelby County School Districts. In May 2007, Carnegie Learning® Curricula was the only middle school math curricula to receive a top ranking in every category in an evaluation by the Kentucky Committee for Mathematics Achievement in their assessment of intermediate and middle grades math intervention programs.

“Many of our schools in Kentucky are models for change and education reform for the 21st century,” said Liz Storey, Executive Director of Kentucky’s Green River Regional Educational Cooperative. “Carnegie Learning is demonstrating, in multiple implementations here, the ability to deliver real student improvement results by combining software and textbooks to deliver differentiated instruction and encourage learning with a real-world application of math.”

Carnegie Learning® Bridge to Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry textbooks are approved by the Kentucky State Textbook Commission for use in middle schools and high schools in the state through 2015.
