Texas Tech students now have more options when trying to avoid tickets in the university parking lots, reports the Daily Toreador: University Parking Services recently installed a new "pay-by-phone" system in several of the parking lots across campus. The new system gives commuters the option to pay for their parking through their cell phones, either by making a call or by text messaging. Students can add additional time to their parking balance through their cell phones as well. A Canadian company, Verrus Mobile Technologies Inc., developed the program. Heather Medley, the marketing and training coordinator for University Parking Services, said the new system will make the parking process more convenient for students. Texas Tech reportedly is one of only five campuses to have implemented the technology; the others are the University of Miami, University of Wisconsin, University of Colorado, and Yale University.
