Helix Education to Share Insight on Enrollment, Big Data and Competency-Based Education in Three APSCU Sessions

Sessions Designed to Help Schools More Effectively Find, Enroll, Retain and Teach Students

Salt Lake City, UT – June 2, 2014 – Leaders from Helix Education, a world class provider of student lifecycle technologies and services, will be speaking at the APSCU Annual Convention, sharing insight and expertise on three significant trends in higher education today: maximizing enrollment, leveraging big data and creating competency-based education programs. The Palazzo Resort in Las Vegas is home to this year’s APSCU event, taking place June 16th through June 18th.

“We’ve undergone a major evolution since last year’s convention, and are really excited to share our expanded student lifecycle focus with this innovative group of educators,” said Matthew Schnittman, President and CEO of Helix Education. “There are so many opportunities to personalize the learning experience and help students succeed. Our team is looking forward to presenting and exchanging ideas with attendees so collectively we can make the process more meaningful and better support students from start to finish.”

Navigating the New Waters of Competency-Based Education
Helix Education’s Steve Pappageorge, Chief Product Officer, joins a panel of accreditation and institutional leaders to discuss competency-based education programs, how they can help reduce time and costs for students, and what the opportunities and challenges are in building this kind of model. This session takes place on Monday, June 16th at 3:00 p.m.

Innovations in the Student-Institution Relationship: From Enrollment to Start
Today, there are new ways for institutions and students to connect, not to mention new expectations in how, and how often, students want to be contacted. Attendees will learn about effectively using technology and data to drive communication and outreach, including ways to keep students motivated and engaged throughout the enrollment process. Presented by Helix Education’s Pappageorge, Kari Kovar, VP of Strategic Partnerships, and Sarah Horn, Director of University Partnerships, this session is Tuesday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m.

Innovations in Collecting and Using Big Data to Improve Student Outcomes and Graduation Rates
There is a big difference between having data, and actually using it. This session will look at the kinds of data points schools should be tracking along the student lifecycle, as well as the most productive places to apply big data so they can more effectively find, enroll, retain and teach students, and ultimately improve outcomes in more powerful ways. Pappageorge joins Erich Buser, Director of Data Services at Helix Education, for this session, which takes place on Wednesday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m.

Helix Education is a Platinum Level Sponsor, and will be exhibiting in booth #537, where its team will be conducting demonstrations and talking to attendees about more effective ways to find, enroll, retain and teach students. Helix Education will also be featuring its newly released student lifecycle eBook series at the booth.
