MALVERN, Pa. & FRAMINGHAM, Ma., October 02, 2009 – SunGard Higher Education and Rave Wireless are making it easier for customers to incorporate safety solutions into their unified digital campuses. By extending hosted, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) options to integrate into existing SunGard Higher Education administrative systems, customers can quickly add campus safety capabilities.

“We have learned through very tragic events that emergency notification and campus safety solutions are not luxuries – they are critical elements of today’s campus IT infrastructure,” said David Murray, vice president at SunGard Higher Education. “In an emergency, the right information needs to get to the right people through the right channels – and fast. Responding effectively to emergencies requires accurate data and fast, reliable delivery. SunGard Higher Education is a leader in campus administrative systems, and Rave Wireless is a leader in mobile safety for Higher Education. Together, we can help deliver solutions that higher education needs for critical communications.”

The award-winning Rave Alert broadcast alerting system and Rave Guardian personal mobile alarm system can help customers create a safer campus environment:
·         Rave Alert, a hosted SaaS solution, provides an easy and effective way to send broadcast or targeted text messages, e-mail, recorded voice messages and/or RSS feeds to notify the campus community of important announcements.
·         Rave Guardian provides peace of mind and increased security by transforming users’ mobile phones into personal safety devices. The phone-accessed application can be armed, and when triggered, automatically sends the user’s picture, mobile number and personal information to campus police.

The Rave safety applications extend the value of a SunGard Higher Education unified digital campus by capitalizing on the comprehensive data source in the Banner UDC or PowerCAMPUS UDC administrative systems. Using this single data source makes it easier to reach more members of the campus community than a stand-alone application. It also makes it easier to keep information current because user data can be uploaded into the Rave systems without students, faculty and staff having to enter registration information in multiple places. Distribution lists for targeted alerts can also be created automatically from lists and affiliations maintained within the Banner UDC system.

"The integration of SunGard Higher Education’s PowerCAMPUS and Rave Alert allows us to effortlessly manage users across both systems,” said Marty Christofferson, dean of Campus Technology, Tompkins Cortland Community College.  “Without a doubt, PowerCAMPUS customers will be interested in this package.”

“From the very beginning of implementing Rave Alert, we have been using Banner as our repository for subscriber profiles. This allows users to manage their profile details interactively via a self-service portal. This has worked incredibly well for us, and we have implemented the same process with Rave Guardian. SunGard and Rave are a great combination for us,” said Pat Burns, vice president for IT, Colorado State University.

Rave Alert and Rave Guardian campus safety solutions, as well as the Rave Transit solution, are available immediately for customers using Banner and PowerCAMPUS through SunGard Higher Education. All solutions are available as hosted, SaaS solutions and are licensed on an annual basis. For more information, please contact Cindy Ervin at cindy.ervin@sungardhe.com.
