3D4Medical, a medical software application developer for mobile platforms, has launched Lecture Builder. The interactive platform allows professors to create custom anatomy content and lectures for students to fit a variety of curriculums for pre-med, medical, dental, nursing, allied health, physical therapy and paramedic students. Lecture Builder is being piloted in undergraduate and graduate courses in over 60 U.S. universities, including the University of California San Francisco, Ohio State, Columbia University, University of Massachusetts, Penn State, University of Central Florida and multiple universities within the University of Texas system. From projection technology, displays and robotic cameras to audio solutions, archiving and video production, Sony is bringing the latest in AV technology to colleges and universities across the nation. Higher-ed institutions can schedule a visit from September 26 – November 18 to experience Sony’s newest products first-hand and meet Sony’s Education team. The AV Solutions Technology Road Tour will include a laser projector shootout, hands-on demos of Sony’s lineup of PTZ cameras and a glimpse at what’s ahead for Sony’s classroom technologies. Unplag, an online plagiarism checker designed to spot similarities and teach students how to write originally, is now available for all educational institutions using Blackboard’s leading learning management system, Blackboard Learn. The Unplag functionality, including its search sensitivity and character replacement features can be used by teachers or professors once their institution representative registers an account. With possibilities to run simultaneous checks against online sources, documents stored in the institution account and integrated databases as well as receive interactive reports with links to original sources, Unplag can help educators optimize their daily workflow a lot. The IT industry is predicting over 4.5 million cybersecurity jobs available by the end of decade. The National Cyber League (NCL) challenges cybersecurity students and professionals through virtual training exercises, and registration for Fall Season is now open. NCL breeds future cybersecurity professional talent through preparatory lab exercises and challenges that deal with real problems and resource constraints. The NCL helps participants develop and validate knowledge and skills from nine competencies that include open source intelligence, scanning, enumeration, web app exploitation, log analysis, and more. In addition, faculty from two- and four-year colleges and universities can use free resources to integrate the NCL content into the classroom. Instructors will receive a suggested course progression from NCL preparatory lab exercises to competition challenges to professional certifications. Read more.
Pearson and Follett Higher Education Group announced an agreement to offer Pearson’s Digital Direct Access (DDA) model to Follett’s college partners and 1,200+ campus bookstores nationwide. This collaboration builds on Follett’s comprehensive suite of digital solutions, providing institutions with a scalable, sustainable model to deliver Pearson’s high-quality digital content such as e-textbooks, MyLab™ and Mastering™ to students on the first day of class. In addition, DDA promises significant cost savings for students compared to the price of a new print textbook. More than 80 institutions have partnered with Pearson in 2016 to implement the DDA model. Read more.
