The Diocese of Orange Moves Forward with Sycamore Education

Fremont, NE – May 23rd, 2013 – After an exhaustive search and evaluation process, the Office of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Orange, located in Orange, CA, has selected Sycamore Education’s online student information system to be used in the majority of the schools in the Diocese.

The Diocese of Orange began their search at the fall of 2011 with a list of around a dozen potential vendors. The initial evaluation process took several months to complete, and included multiple onsite demonstrations.

“The Diocese was extremely thorough in their selection process,” said Brian Elsbecker, Director of Diocesan Outreach at Sycamore Education. “I was very impressed with their due diligence.”

After the selection committee determined that Sycamore Education was the best system to meet their requirements, Sycamore was deployed in five pilot schools during the 2012-13 school year. “The Sycamore implementation for our school this year was smooth and the support team was always extremely responsive to answering requests for system updates or questions promptly,” commented Catherine Knipper, Technology Coordinator at St. Bonaventure, one of the original pilot schools to use Sycamore Education. “The software is a wonderful communication tool for our school community. I am pleased to recommend Sycamore to others who are looking for a user friendly and affordable student information system.”

The Diocese has a total of 43 schools, with approximately 20,000 students. During the 2013-14 school year, the majority of these schools will begin using Sycamore Education, with plans for the remaining schools to follow suit the subsequent school year.

Sycamore Education’s cloud-based school management system includes a Diocesan/District Manager, which is provided to the Diocesan office at no additional charge. This was a key factor in the Diocese’s final decision. The Diocesan Manager, which can also be used in public school districts, allows instant, real-time access to data for schools, students, and employees throughout the entire Diocese. Furthermore, the Diocesan Manager includes powerful dynamic reporting which completely streamlines state reporting, and NCEA (National Catholic Education Association) reporting.

Sycamore Education’s online student information system includes over 200 seamlessly integrated features, many of which helped address some major issues and concerns within the Diocese, such as cafeteria management, generating master schedules, donor management, childcare manager, and admissions management.

“A large number of our clients are Catholic schools, and over the past few years we’ve invested a great deal of time and resources into adding functionality specifically for our Catholic clients. We’ve also dramatically expanded the functionality of our Diocesan Manager,” said Elsbecker. “As a result, we have a record number of Dioceses looking at Sycamore Education. We are thrilled that the Diocese of Orange recognized the value of Sycamore Education, and we look forward to a long and very productive relationship.”
