Pflugerville Independent School District Automates Account Management with Tools4ever’s UMRA

SEATTLE, Wash. – Nov. 8, 2013 — Tools4ever, the market leader in identity and access management solutions, announced today that Pflugerville Independent School District, Pflugerville, Texas, has implemented User Management Resource Administrator (UMRA). Pflugerville includes 29 schools, ranging from elementary to high school throughout Central Texas, encompassing 95 square miles. The district implemented UMRA to replace its previous solution, and to effectively automate user account management.

Tools4ever’s UMRA is being implemented to allow the school district to connect with all campus student information systems so that whenever a change is made it is automatically reflected in all corresponding accounts. UMRA allows district staff to easily provision and de-provision all student and employee accounts from one system to Google Apps, Exchange and Office 365 and have them automatically created each day at a pre-determined time.

Prior to UMRA, district staff spent weeks processing thousands of accounts, a fraction of the total needed. In addition, a full-time staff member was needed each summer to manually update users, provision and de-provision accounts. The district also needed additional software solution to handle user accounts in Office 365.

“We no longer have any issues provisioning accounts and are able to do it extremely fast,” said Victor Valdez, executive director of technology at Pflugerville ISD. “HR simply inputs everything and accounts are created once a day.”

Tools4ever’s UMRA allows the IT department to enter all staff and student accounts then automatically provisions the accounts in Active Directory, Google Apps and Microsoft Exchange. UMRA also automates other processes, such as creating groups in Active Directory based on current class rosters in the district, and assigning membership to the correct groups for students and staff based upon their enrollment.

“UMRA allows school technology leaders to easily synchronize user accounts and data automatically, and eliminates manual management of the information,” said Dean Wiech, managing director of Tools4ever. “The system also allows schools to reduce account pollution, and improve security of systems and applications.”
