Two Enhanced Digital Signage Media Players with Wi-Fi from Gefen Offer HTML5 and Widgets for a More User Friendly Experience

CHATSWORTH, CA – Digital connectivity solutions provider Gefen today announced that two updated digital signage media players are now shipping, further expanding the range of solutions it provides for the growing digital signage industry.

The Digital Signage Media Player with Wi-Fi and the Digital Signage Media Player with Wi-Fi Plus now utilize HTML5-based widgets to simplify and improve the user experience. The new widget-based system makes content creation simple, allowing a “drag and drop” function to import elements into the design. Date/time, RSS feeds and news widgets are already provided in the software that comes with both the Digital Signage Media Player with Wi-Fi and the Plus model. Users can upload playlists, create schedules and more for convenient content management. Both include a selection of twenty pre-designed templates for multiple zones to more effectively jump-start content development and deployment. The W3C SMIL implementation is ideal for software developers to ensure compatibility across different platforms.

Both allow an easy and convenient method of uploading content, either by sending content to connected displays through the media player or by saving content to a USB drive which can then be plugged directly into one of the 2 USB ports on the device, and copied directly to the internal memory on the device.

Both players support connection of an HDMI or analog (composite/component/VGA) display. USB connectivity is provided for interactive functionality using contact closure type relays and switches along with Gefen add-on products (sold separately).

Digital Signage Media Player with Wi-Fi

This LAN and WAN-based Media Player is connected to all displays on the network and uses wi-fi connectivity to receive digital signage content. It provides both digital (HDMI) and analog video (composite/component/VGA) outputs, supporting resolutions up to 1080p. Two-channel analog audio can be delivered along with the video if needed. Additional features include one-line scrolling text, calendar-based scheduling, pre-designed templates and a passive cooling system. With 4GB of flash memory with optional expansion up to 16 GB, this Media Player can satisfy demanding digital signage content needs.

Digital Signage Media Player with W-Fi Plus

This Plus model supports a live input video feed using the composite input in addition to all of the above features. The ability to place live video in predefined template zones on the display is well suited for more complex digital signage content. This Media Player also provides one-line scrolling text, 4 GB flash memory expandable to 16 GB, two-channel audio and support for today’s most popular video formats. RS-232 control is used for turning the display power on/off. It is also LAN and WAN-based and supplies both digital and analog outputs.
