Helix Education Releases White Paper on Education Models and Instructional Methods Shaping the Future of Higher Education

Salt Lake City, UT – October 22, 2014 – Helix Education, a world class provider of student life cycle technologies and services, has been chosen to lead the breakout session “The Five Things You Should Know About Competency-Based Education” at the 20th Annual OLC International Conference. The session will explore competency-based education (CBE) as an educational model, as well as key considerations around integration, instructional design, course creation, and student support.

“There is no doubt that competency-based education is gaining momentum in the industry, yet educators still have a lot of questions about how they can best plan for and execute on a successful competency-based education strategy,” said Cherron Hoppes, Chief Academic Officer at Helix Education. “Our team is eager to engage in conversations and share ideas that will help institutional leaders navigate this emerging model and the future of online learning.”

Helix Education will also be sharing its newly published white paper with OLC attendees. “Instructional Methods and Education Models Shaping the Future of Higher Education” explores the definitions and differences between personalized learning, adaptive learning and competency-based education, providing clarity for educators as they look for innovative new ways to connect with students and improve outcomes. The company has a growing CBE Resources Library for OLC attendees to reference as they learn more about competency-based education.

Helix Education, which is a Platinum Sponsor of the event, will be presenting on Thursday, October 30th at 9:25 a.m. The company will be exhibiting in booth #131 where attendees can stop by to test-drive Helix Retain, the company’s dynamic CRM built to keep students engaged, and Helix LMS, its innovative learning platform that powers on-campus, online, hybrid, and competency-based education programs.

The OLC International Conference is the premier global forum focused on online learning innovation, attracting administrators, faculty and instructional designers from more than 700 colleges and universities in the United States and around the world. It takes place October 29th – 31st in Orlando, FL.
