LiveText™ expands secure, Single Sign-On technology to include Desire2Learn™

La Grange, IL, October 3, 2012 – LiveText, a leading provider of outcomes-based learning assessment and accreditation management solutions for higher education, has announced seamless single sign-on (SSO) capabilities for Desire2Learn (D2L), a learning management system (LMS) that also serves higher ed. LiveText already supports single sign-on for a variety of LMS’s including Blackboard™ and Moodle™.
Single sign-on (SSO) uses centralized authentication servers that independent applications utilize for authentication purposes, and combines this with techniques to ensure that users do not have to actively enter their credentials more than once. A user logs in once and is able to gain access to all approved systems, in this case, LiveText and D2L.
LiveText’s SSO feature provides users with the convenience of one-click access to multiple applications with high levels of security. Users are not required to remember multiple username and/or passwords to log into different applications. LiveText’s SSO reduces password fatigue from different username and password combinations, reduces time spent re-entering passwords for the same identity, and can also reduce credential-based inquiries to campus IT departments.
