Tech jobs took hit in 2009, report says

Jobs in technology, like those in virtually every other sector, took a big hit in 2009, according to a report released on Wednesday that is based on the most recent data available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, report the New York Times. The number of tech jobs in 53 of 60 major cities fell during 2009, according to the report, Cybercities 2010, by TechAmerica Foundation, the education arm of a technology industry lobbying group. Here are some of its other findings:

–          Among major cities, New York had the most tech jobs, with 317,000, followed by Washington, with 293,000, and San Jose/Silicon Valley, with 225,600.
