Elon U., Evolution Labs launch web, app-based student-athlete success platform

Evolution Labs [1] announced that Elon University will debut its SA360 platform [2] this coming academic year. Phoenix360, Elon University’s customized name for SA360, provides student-athletes with engaging mobile app and web-based content on topics ranging from mental health to NCAA compliance to diet and nutrition to academic skills. The tools and content in the program will help coaches and staff better support players throughout the athletic season and academic year.

“Phoenix360 will play a central role in equipping our student-athletes with the skills, attitude, and knowledge that will help them succeed not just in college, but into their careers beyond,” said Faith Shearer, Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator at Elon. “The Phoenix360 platform provides an invaluable tool and resource to assist student-athletes in meeting the many demands of their classes and sport, and can help them whether they’re sitting in a residence hall or traveling to their next road game.”

SA360 covers important success topics, including mental health, physical fitness, study and test-taking skills, time management skills, drug and alcohol use, sexual assault, NCAA compliance and career preparedness. It employs pulse surveys, social media, interactive self-tests and digital video to keep students returning for weekly updates. In addition the platform can be configured to work as part of an existing course or as an independent required curriculum. The university plans to pilot the program this summer and roll it out to all student-athletes this fall.

“Elon understands that teaching student-athletes key life-skills in a highly engaging manner at the right time in their athletic careers can have a profound impact,” said Peter Kraft, co-founder at Evolution Labs. “SA360 meets students where the students are – online and on their mobile devices – allowing them to connect and engage with content when and where it suits them, which in turn helps ensure that students absorb the material and reach desired learning outcomes.”
