Utah Valley University Appoints Christina Baum as New Vice President of Digital Transformation and CIO

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University (UVU) has appointed Christina Baum as its new vice president of digital transformation and chief information officer, effective immediately. Baum was most recently serving as associate vice president of academic and student digital services at UVU.

In her new position at UVU, Baum will be responsible for continuing and building the vision, strategy, policy, guidelines, and oversight of the University’s digital transformation and its information technology.

“I am delighted to welcome Christina to the UVU Cabinet,” said Astrid S. Tuminez, president of UVU. “She has proven herself as a leader at UVU, has earned the trust and confidence of many, and will boldly continue UVU’s journey of digital transformation.”

Prior to UVU, Baum served as the chief information officer for Ensign College (formerly known as LDS Business College). Additionally, Baum worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ IT department, information and communication services, and many other technology and engineering companies.

“I am honored for this opportunity and I am excited to be working with President Tuminez and with so many outstanding colleagues on the UVU team,” said Baum. “I love the mission of UVU and our commitment to student success and inclusion. I look forward to helping UVU to digitally transform, simplify, and innovate our technology to improve the experience for our students, faculty, and staff.”

Baum earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Washington State University. During her MBA program, Baum was recognized as the “Scholar of the Year,” and graduated with top honors, including leading her business team to win a first-place victory in an international business plan competition.

Baum is the mother of three, and her hobbies include skiing, golf, and listening to all genres of music.
