Spectrum Enterprise Teams With Six NY State Colleges and Universities to Add Nearly 12,000 SpectrumU Viewers

Agreements with New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium and Upstate New York College Collaboration Make it Easier for Member Schools to Add Video Streaming Service

STAMFORD, Conn. – Spectrum Enterprise, a part of Charter Communications, today announced that  Alfred UniversityColgate UniversityHobart and William Smith CollegesLe Moyne CollegeNazareth College and  St. Lawrence University have added or expanded their offering of  SpectrumU®, a video streaming service with live TV and on-demand programming, as a benefit for students to enjoy from their mobile devices and laptops.

These schools are members of either the  New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium and/or the  Upstate New York College Collaboration – both higher education organizations that pool their expertise and economies of scale to enhance the student, faculty and staff experiences while managing costs. The Spectrum Enterprise arrangement with the organizations helps simplify the contracting and implementation process for other member schools that want to offer SpectrumU.

“The ongoing feedback that Spectrum Enterprise has received from members of the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium and the Upstate New York College Collaboration has helped us ensure that SpectrumU continues to meet the needs of today’s students and higher education facilities,” said Raj Mukherji, Vice President of Vertical Market Sales, Spectrum Enterprise.

Designed for the diverse interests of college and university students, SpectrumU offers over 200 channels of live TV, sports and entertainment as well as an extensive on-demand library of shows and movies for watching on iOS or Android mobile devices, tablets, laptops or desktops in addition to Apple TV, Chromecast and Roku devices. Since the service is delivered over an IP connection, SpectrumU eliminates the need for schools to purchase, install and maintain additional equipment.

“Colleges and universities are always looking for ways to enrich the student experience,” said Derek Lustig, Director of Infrastructure & Security Services at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. “While this has been more challenging because of the pandemic, we find that the anytime access to a wide range of channels and programming makes SpectrumU appealing to students. The fact that it doesn’t require new equipment to install or maintain makes it appealing to cost-conscious higher education administrators too. SpectrumU is a unique platform that addresses the challenges of these times. I’m grateful for the collaboration by partner institutions as their efforts benefit all of our campuses.”
