AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner

It’s hard to carve out time to add to our professional skills and earn credentials. We hear this sentiment from our customers, and, of course, we feel it ourselves. One thing we hear consistently from AWS Certified customers is that setting a specific, time-bound goal—like getting certified by AWS re:Invent—enables you to work backwards, stay motivated, and feel accountable.

If you’re ready to build your foundational AWS Cloud knowledge, or perhaps even prepare to earn the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification, we have two new, free offerings to help. First, learn the fundamentals of the AWS Cloud with our new, interactive Twitch series, AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner and AWS Power Hour: Q&A. Then, set a goal to earn your AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification with our Get AWS Certified Global Challenge.

Why not attend AWS re:Invent (virtually) with industry validated cloud skills? You can make the most of your experience by building and validating your cloud knowledge ahead of time. As a result, you’ll be ready to dive deeper and find your next challenge.

What are AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner and AWS Power Hour: Q&A?

Beginning the week of October 12, 2020, join us for AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner, the newest Twitch series from AWS Training and Certification. The series is designed for anyone looking to build their AWS Cloud knowledge, and is free, fun, and an informal way to learn with a community of individuals who have similar goals.

“We’re especially excited about the way Twitch allows us to create a community with our customers, demonstrate how to build with the AWS Cloud, and ignite enthusiasm for the opportunities the cloud presents to the diverse workforce of the future,” said Scott Barneson, director of Learning Products, AWS Training and Certification.

AWS Power Hour: Cloud Practitioner is a twice-weekly livestream that will cover the essential information to build your future in the AWS Cloud. Over the course of six weeks, our AWS experts will serve as hosts and guide you through the content with demonstrations and real world examples. You’ll start with cloud basics and key AWS services, and then explore topics like the AWS Well-Architected Framework, building and securing applications in the cloud, pricing and support, and how to innovate. You’ll receive tips, resources, and exercises to help you strengthen your knowledge and prepare you to get AWS Cloud certified.

Each episode will livestream twice per week (identical content) to accommodate learners in various time zones. You’ll also be able to access recorded episodes anytime, immediately after they stream.

Additionally, join AWS Power Hour: Q&A, a twice-weekly 30-minute, open forum livestream, where you can interact with the show hosts and your fellow learner community, and ask questions.

Is AWS Certification your goal?

The Get AWS Certified Global Challenge is another free way to help you stay accountable and become AWS Certified by AWS re:Invent 2020. The challenge provides a three-step, recommended preparation path that includes free training, resources, and a learner community to help you along the way. All participants will also receive a voucher for a free practice exam.

“Cloud skills are in demand, and earning AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner helps highlight your cloud fluency to your current or prospect employer with an industry-recognized credential from AWS,” said Diana Godwin, AWS Certification leader in AWS Training and Certification. In addition, you’ll receive a digital badge for your resume and social profiles to help you showcase your ability to contribute to a company’s cloud adoption from any role.

How can I get started?

Both the Twitch series and the certification challenge are free and available to anyone, globally. You don’t have to attend AWS re:Invent 2020 to participate, but we hope you do!
