Fairfield University launches new technology portal

Fairfield University partners with rSmart to create my.Fairfield 2.0 portal for finding and exploring campus services.

Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. has selected OneCampus from rSmart® to provide students, faculty, and staff a cutting edge tool that makes finding and accessing campus services and information, from any device, more intuitive. OneCampus will allow the Fairfield University community to easily connect to dozens of resources such as student services, course information, learning management systems (LMS) and even laundry machine statuses, all in an online marketplace format.

Recently ranked #2 in Northern Regional Universities by 2017 U.S. News & World Best Colleges Rankings, Fairfield University’s objectives include promoting a sense of social responsibility, and making sure all students embrace and develop their full creative, intellectual potential. Fairfield University was founded in 1942 and since that time has awarded more than 45,000 degrees, and developed a reputation for educational excellence both regionally and nationally.

Fairfield University was in need of a more modern solution to replace their legacy CampusEAI portal. They specifically wanted a solution that fit within their planned improvements and technology goals, included single sign-on for campus applications, offered scalability through peak times (such as student registration), and provided a streamlined implementation requiring minimal resources. Strong customer support and guidance were requirements as well. Finally, it was imperative that the new solution integrate with Banner®, Fairfield University’s ERP system.

OneCampus from rSmart was selected for its ability to fit these needs and for the many innovative features that appeal to the entire University community, including students, parents, faculty and employees.

“Our new portal, my.Fairfield 2.0, uses the OneCampus platform to provide our education community with a school-branded, easy-to-use solution enabling users to find

and discover essential campus programs and services, and help them find what they need, on any of their devices – laptop, phone, or tablet,” said Jason Victor, Help Desk Manager. “Providing exceptional education services is our primary goal at Fairfield University, and we are always seeking ways to improve the experience for our entire community. my.Fairfield 2.0 is exactly what our students and staff expect from higher education, giving them more time to focus on learning and student success.”

OneCampus is implemented in schools across the country, serving nearly one million users in colleges and universities of all sizes. OneCampus is mobile-friendly and sits on top of existing systems, directing users to disparate services through a centralized point without affecting the underlying business units or processes; implementation and ongoing updates are fast and easy. The latest version of OneCampus includes new features such as Global Announcements, Alerts, and enhancements to Google Analytics.

“Fairfield University has been a true partner in planning and implementing a service discovery portal that is designed specifically to provide users with access to the most important services that support success on campus,” said Tony Potts, CEO of rSmart. “myFairfield 2.0 represents the University’s needs in its simple yet creative approach to engaging all user groups. We are excited to welcome them to the OneCampus community.”
