Pearson LearningStudio customers switch to D2L’s Brightspace LMS

Educators are increasingly choosing Brightspace to deliver online and classroom learning experience for students

D2L announced that over the past two years, a growing number of learning institutions are switching to its Brightspace platform from Pearson LearningStudio. Brightspace is the recommended LMS for Pearson LearningStudio customers, who consist of institutions with full or partial online programs and who were notified of Pearson’s plan to retire the Pearson LearningStudio platform.

To accommodate the increased demand from Pearson LearningStudio customers, D2L is also announcing an upgraded version of its Pearson Conversion Tool, making it easier for institutions using Pearson LearningStudio to import their curriculum to Brightspace. With the converter, course data such as content, Doc Sharing, web content uploads, Quizzes, Webliography, and more can now be automatically imported into Brightspace, simplifying the transition for instructors and LMS administrators.

“We’ve created a seamless migration path for Pearson LearningStudio customers so they can easily move to Brightspace without disrupting students or faculty,” said John Baker, D2L CEO. “The growing wave of customers that are embracing Brightspace shows we can deliver an innovative learning experience and minimal disruption.”

A number of institutions have switched to Brightspace from Pearson LearningStudio over the past two years, including:

  • Texas Christian University
  • Saint Leo University
  • Mount Sierra College
  • Southern Technical College
  • Oklahoma Panhandle State University

Saint Leo University became a D2L customer earlier this year. “For us, the priority was to create an ecosystem that is future-ready and innovative,” said Dr. Jeff Borden, Chief Innovation Officer at Saint Leo. “D2L helped us make that a reality through its wide integration with our existing systems, robust automation and streamlined processes, and support for mobile technology. The relationship with D2L has felt like a true partnership — so our students can truly come first.”

Brightspace was created with the modern, mobile learner in mind. The platform engages students by incorporating personalized learning, mobile devices, and gamification.
