New program to offer specialized curriculum and resources as well as student mentors, membership at no cost.
Learning Ally, a national nonprofit organization, has announced its new College Success Program, designed specifically for students attending college who are blind and visually impaired.
In partnership with the Lavelle Fund for the Blind, Learning Ally is piloting The College Success Program, a research-based program designed specifically for college students who are blind or visually impaired.
The program offers an online curriculum that includes articles, interviews, podcasts, quizzes and more to help you on the college journey. Students can explore ways to learn effectively, manage connections with professors and disabilities offices, discover technology and connect to the campus and BVI communities.
The College Success Program offers resources for these students, such as peer mentors, who are blind and visually impaired themselves, and have succeeded in college and beyond, who will serve as guides to these students as they navigate the college journey, a specialized research based curriculum and additional services.

Learning Ally hopes to reach each student currently enrolled in enrolled in higher education, with blindness and visual impairment, so they can take advantage of the programs and services offered.
Learning Ally supports K-12, college and graduate students, veterans and lifelong learners – all of whom read and learn differently due to dyslexia, blindness or visual impairment, and other disabilities.
Through its community events and support programs, Learning Ally enables parents, teachers and specialists to help students thrive and succeed.
The organization hosts live and virtual events for families and teachers; provides instructive webinars led by experts as well as peer-to-peer sessions led by students; personal consultations for parents; and professional development workshops for educators.
Learning Ally’s collection of 80,000 human-narrated audio textbooks and literature titles can be downloaded by students using their smartphones and tablets, and is the largest of its kind in the world.
