Nepris and JASON Learning Partnership Means More Teachers Have Access to STEM Experts for Their Classrooms

April 22, 2014 – A new partnership between Nepris and JASON Learning will make STEM come to life for millions more K-12 students taking part in JASON Learning STEM curricula. JASON Learning—a partnership of Sea Research Foundation and the National Geographic Society—is preparing dozens of session requests, which have been created by the nation’s top science teachers, for Nepris to closely tie JASON curricula to related career pathways. This will make it easier for teachers to virtually connect with those experts and bring them into their classrooms through online interactive sessions. Click to tweet: http://ctt.ec/ox1pk .

Not only does the partnership mean teachers using JASON curricula can more easily connect with science, engineering, technology and math experts, but Nepris teachers will be able to choose from a list of pre-populated JASON Learning lessons for grades K-12. These lessons cover a wide range of engaging topics from physical science lessons on machines to the study of weather patterns, erosion and more.

“JASON and Nepris have highly complementary missions of connecting kids with science and scientists. Nepris will bring new opportunities for the three million students who participate in JASON curricula and programs to interact with scientists in the relevant fields,” said Eleanor Smalley, executive vice president and COO of JASON Learning. “We believe at JASON that bringing children together with role models will lead the way to improved STEM education and scientific literacy.”

“We are pleased to partner with JASON Learning to help teachers leverage industry support to enrich their JASON lessons,” said Sabari Raja, Nepris CEO and founder. “JASON is known for their science curricula bringing hand-on learning to the classroom. With Nepris integrated, our combined vision is to give teachers the ability to leverage industry support when they need it and for students to connect their classroom lessons to role models in related careers they can aspire to.”

On Nepris.com, teachers enter requests for experts and professionals to speak to their students virtually through an online system that manages every step of the process. The sessions vary in type: the professionals might help students complete a project, or evaluate it based on the teacher’s rubric, or simply talk about their work in STEM and how it relates to everyday life. For teachers this brings real-world relevance into the classroom without having to physically bring someone there. Teachers can tie their sessions to state standards or the Common Core and align them to intended learning outcomes.

The JASON sessions are available now for teachers, schools or districts registering at Nepris.com. Individual teachers from elementary, middle or high schools can sign up for free access for a limited time. School, district or classroom licenses are also available.
