Hawaii colleges lagging in online learning, US News rankings show

Hawaii’s colleges are notably missing from the U.S. News and World Report’s recent rankings [1] of online programs, suggesting that the Aloha State is lagging in one of the fastest-growing areas of education, Honolulu Civil Beat reports.

The only local university to get a spot on the list [2] is Chaminade University, whose online graduate education program received such a low overall score [3] that it didn’t even get a numerical ranking.

The US News rankings evaluate programs in six categories, including general undergraduate, graduate business and graduate nursing programs.

The University of Hawaii offers an array of distance-learning degrees [4], while Hawaii Pacific University offers several, including an online master of business administration [5].
