Community College Protects Windows Mobile Devices with PREY

The Jim and Patsy Rose Library at Cleveland Community College looks to PREY Anti-Theft software to secure additional devices

Santiago, Chile (November 19, 2013) Located in Shelby, NC “The City of Pleasant Living”, Cleveland Community College’s (CCC) Jim and Patsy Rose Library is focused on making educational resources more accessible to their students and to prepare them for work in their community. Recently, The Library has added mobile Windows devices, equipped with PREY Anti-Theft Software, to their technology toolbox, further streamlining and enriching existing programs.

The Rose Library is committed to providing an environment conducive to relevant learning. To further support their vision and reach their diverse group of students – from Adult High School to GED and ESL students – CCC has added 70 Windows 8 devices, giving their students additional access to technology on campus. To secure these devices, everything from information privacy and the ability to secure and track devices, CCC has enlisted PREY as part of their mobile device management strategy.

“We have been extremely pleased with the increase in access our students have to technology. We are committed to the success of each student, which has led to the addition of these 70 new devices,” says Alan Horldt, Learning Systems Specialist at the Rose Library. “Having PREY installed on every device allows us to provide unfettered access to technology for our students without the worry of compromised privacy, loss or theft”.

PREY, a leading provider of cross-platform, anti-theft and device recovery, is being included in device management & security portfolios for community colleges across the country to protect their various tech initiatives. From PC’s and Window’s, to MacBooks and iPads, Android and Linux platforms, PREY offers features like hardware scans, device history, geo-location; as well as the ability to lock and delete passwords and to take screen shots & photos from a device camera once a device is reported missing.

“PREY runs silently in the background on any device, protecting both student and institutional technology investments, allowing them to focus on what is important, their education,” comments Prey Co-founder, Tomas Pollak. “The greatest compliment to us is seeing students on campuses like Cleveland Community College benefit from PREY, bolstering their device security, streamlining their device management systems and ultimately keeping their focus on the learning process.”
