LRMI Launches Free Monthly Newsletter

PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 5, 2013 – The Learning Resource Metadata Initiative (LRMI) has launched a monthly newsletter, titled LRMI Update, to keep the education community up to speed on the latest LRMI news. The project, which has developed an education-focused extension of the Schema.org metadata framework, aims to make it easier to publish, discover, and deliver quality educational resources on the web.

Distributed the second Wednesday of each month, the free newsletter provides subscribers with links to recent LRMI blog posts, information about upcoming LRMI-related events, and occasional “bonus” features.

Some LRMI news on the horizon includes:
• Results from the 2013 LRMI survey of educators and publishers
• Information about the upcoming LRMI workshop on September 22, held prior to the start of the EdNET conference in Denver, CO
• Profiles of learning resource providers and content curators who are tagging their materials using the LRMI specification

Those who have already signed up for LRMI project updates will automatically receive the LRMI Update. If you’re not already on that list and wish to receive the LRMI Update (and other timely LRMI news) delivered directly to your e-mail inbox, sign up by visiting this page on the LRMI website. The next issue of LRMI Update will be published on Wednesday, August 14.

Please sign up today and encourage your colleagues and other industry friends to do the same.

Additional News Note: LRMI Project Manager Dave Gladney will discuss the initiative on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 during the Advisory Commission on Textbook Specifications (ACTS) conference in Austin, Texas. Click here to learn more.

About The Learning Resource Metadata Initiative (LRMI)
The Learning Resource Metadata Initiative (LRMI) aims to make the educational resource search experience richer for educators and learners and improve the discoverability of resources for content creators. Creative Commons and the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) have co-led the project since its founding in 2011. In July 2013, the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and AEP merged to form the AAP PreK-12 Learning Group. AEP’s programs have been transferred to AAP pursuant to the merger. However, AEP continues to manage LRMI because of AEP’s 501(c)(3) status.
