Growth in eTranscripts Advances Movement Toward Digital Credentials

SCOTTSDALE, AZ— July 23, 2013—Closing in on the company’s 10 millionth transcript delivered, today Parchment released activity metrics for Q2 2013 that underscore continued momentum in the movement towards eTranscripts, including innovative utilization of eTranscripts to promote education attainment initiatives.

While an off-peak quarter seasonally, more than 897,000 eTranscripts were exchanged in Q2 2013 (152% growth YoY), which exceeds the total number of eTranscripts Parchment delivered between all of 2003-2009. In addition, more than 300 new members joined the Parchment Exchange platform (163% growth YoY). Parchment Exchange is the leading standards-based technology platform for sending and receiving eTranscripts and other academic credentials.

In the secondary school market, Parchment added major school districts and increased traction from state initiatives, laying the foundation for continued growth in the future. System-wide arrangements include all the public high schools in Kansas City, Missouri; DeSoto County, Mississippi; and the Leander School District in Texas. Also of note, Penn Foster, the national online high school based in Pennsylvania, joined Parchment Exchange, as did its postsecondary school.

On the postsecondary front, Western Governors University, with 35,000 online students, joined Parchment Exchange as both sender and receiver. The analytical potential of eTranscripts for admissions officers gained broader acceptance as a record number of institutions upgraded to the premium license of Parchment Receive, including California State University – Fullerton; Kent State University in Ohio; Pratt Institute in New York City; Seton Hall University in New Jersey; St. Joseph’s College in New York; and Tulane University in New Orleans; each were drawn by Parchment’s automation capability, and easy-to-use platform.

International growth of eTranscripts shows signs of becoming an increasingly large share of Parchment Exchange activity in coming years. A key precursor of that growth was put in place in Q2 when AACRAO International Education Services (IES) chose Parchment as “Select Partner for Credential Exchange.” Parchment will serve as the eTranscript sending and receiving solution for AACRAO IES users. The company also signed up Australia’s University of Western Sydney.

Other recent milestones include:
• Launched Parchment Exchange, the most comprehensive and innovative education credentials platform in the market, and one of only two services PESC certified as standards compliant;
• Served over 7,700 sending and/or receiving members active in the trailing 12 months;
• Celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the founding of Parchment; and
• Awarded Oracle Gold Partner status, a key relationship in providing advanced automation and integration to PeopleSoft postsecondary clients

“One of the most fulfilling aspects of our work at Parchment is the opportunity to support student success by helping our member institutions unlock the value of the eTranscript,” said Parchment CEO Matthew Pittinsky, Ph.D. “Through the leadership of our Members, we are making good progress toward a market where all education credentials are exchanged electronically and are used to promote education attainment and enhance career opportunities.”
