Adapt Courseware to Release Powerful Student Performance Tracking Metrics at AACC Annual Conference

Academic Analytics Data Enables Deeper Insights into Learning Paths and Subject Mastery Trends at Student, Course, and Institutional Levels

Rochester, NY – April 18, 2013 – Adapt Courseware, the provider of comprehensive adaptive online curriculum resources that individualize each student’s learning experience, is introducing new student performance tracking features within its system, which provide a wealth of insights into student progress, performance, concept mastery, and academic achievement. The powerful metrics, dashboards, and reports, which the company will be showcasing at the AACC Annual Conference, provide instructors and administrators at colleges and universities with real-time access to detailed learning outcomes and trend data that can support and facilitate numerous benefits, such as better personalized learning experiences and student retention rates.

“The ability to explore and better understand each student’s progress and path towards topic mastery can be invaluable, both at the course level, as well as from a big picture institutional perspective,” said Rebecca Ferraro, product manager at Adapt Courseware and a former adjunct professor. “As educators, anything we can do to make the learning experience more engaging and personalized increases the likelihood that students will stay engaged and progress through their programs. With increased visibility into student performance, faculty can provide a higher level of personalized support, and institutions can deliver measurably improved student satisfaction and learning outcomes.”

The new dashboards and reports allow instructors to readily evaluate both high level course summary data and highly granular student data at a glance, including the amount of time spent performing specific course tasks, the number of completed activities, and the projected course completion timeframe. Faculty can also gain grounded insights into each student’s study habits and learning styles. For instance, instructors can track:
• The average number of attempts for students to complete a specific activity
• The typical time it takes from unit start to completion
• Each student’s participation and postings in study groups and discussion boards
• The most common initial activity when starting a new unit
• The average number of learning activities to master a concept

Another major advancement is Adapt Courseware’s innovative new Learning Object Analytics report, which shows how often students answer questions correctly on first, second, and third attempts for each activity, as well as their incorrect responses. This report is instrumental in helping educators understand the degree to which a concept was universally understood by a group of students, as well as the effectiveness of particular content and assessment items.

From an administrator’s perspective, the robust student achievement and learning outcomes data can guide and support an institution’s decision making and planning processes. The data can more effectively help determine and validate specifically how and where adjustments and improvements can be made to increase retention and completion rates.

The American Association of Community College is hosting its annual event April 20th through the 23rd in San Francisco. It draws more than 2,000 community college presidents and senior administrators, as well as international educators, representatives of business/industry, and federal agencies. Adapt Courseware is exhibiting in booth #725.
