Parchment Redefines Sending/Receiving of eTranscripts with Launch of Parchment Exchange

SAN FRANCISCO— (April 15, 2013)— Parchment Inc., the leader in the eTranscript market with more than 7,400 member institutions, today announced the launch of Parchment Exchange (http://exchange.parchment.com), a new, highly advanced platform for eTranscript exchange offering unmatched functionality and ease of use for both sending and receiving of academic transcripts. Parchment made the announcement at the first annual Parchment Exchange User Conference held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), taking place April 14-17 in San Francisco.

Parchment Exchange redefines the current eTranscript sending and receiving experience for institutions and students alike. Trusted by the largest member user community in education, the company built Parchment Exchange as the only platform that puts equal emphasis on both sides of the eTranscript equation – sending and receiving. The upgraded platform’s key features and benefits include:

• Touch-free, complete automation, including ordering, receiving, sending and printing;
• Transcript delivery in print, image or standards-based EDI or XML data formats ;
• Straightforward, proven implementation with any Student Information System (SIS) or Electronic Admissions Application (eApp);
• The highest level of security for both PDF and printed documents;
• Fully branded Web order environment and transcripts for each institution;
• Tracking and reporting metrics enabling deep analytic insight;
• A “unified inbox” that can receive eTranscripts from multiple providers, including the SPEEDE Server at the University of Texas at Austin and eTranscript California; and
• An easy-to-use, intuitive, redesigned interface at exchange.parchment.com.

“Parchment is singularly focused on eTranscripts, investing more than $6 million in R&D to drive innovation. The result is an upgraded platform that is starkly simple to use and comprehensive in handling the needs of every part of the transcript sending and receiving ecosystem,” said Parchment CEO Matthew Pittinsky, Ph.D. “We leveraged the best functionality from Docufide and Avow Systems, and worked in close cooperation with our community of practice and the Parchment Advisory Board to create a service we believe will set a new industry standard.”

The concept of electronic transcript sending and receiving was conceived in 1991, when AACRAO created the Standardization of Postsecondary Education Electronic Data Exchange (SPEEDE), and collaboratively led the development of set electronic data interchange (EDI) standards. Parchment launched as Docufide in 2003, offering the first eTranscript sending service. Since then Parchment acquired Avow Systems, solidifying its leadership in the category. Parchment has provided the exchange of more than 9 million eTranscripts and works with more than 7,400 secondary and post-secondary institutions – the largest community of practice in the industry.

“The registrar is the keeper of an institution’s ‘integrity keys,’” said Michael Rendon, University Registrar at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. “The challenge is to find systems that allow you to provide services without compromising security. The Parchment eTranscript solution catapulted our transcript operations from an aged and meandering process into a fast, customer-friendly solution. The turnaround for a secure, certified official transcript, fully branded, is now only a matter of minutes.”

“Because transcripts arrive so quickly with Parchment Exchange, we are able to turn admissions decisions and make the nerve-racking college application experience better for students,” said Kimberley Buster-Williams, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Director of Admissions at Northern Illinois University. “And now we are pleased to have been part of the process designing Parchment Exchange as the new standard for eTranscript receiving and sending.”
