JES & Co. Launches Adopt-a-State Program

Achievement Standards Network continues to provide the latest learning outcomes to the education community through private sector collaboration

February 14, 2013

JES & Co. announced the launch of the Achievement Standards Network’s (ASN) Adopt-a-State program today. JES & Co. is excited to involve companies as partners in the ASN community, providing funding for the input and maintenance of standards for each state and the state-specific Common Core State Standards. The education community and the private businesses taking part in the program will benefit from the partnership. Educators will have continued access to the most up-to-date learning outcomes, an essential piece of the puzzle in a system that relies heavily on these standards. The contribution from companies who adopt a state will ensure that this important data remains open source and accessible to the educators who need it.

“The Achievement Standards Network has always been about a collaboration between the public and private sectors. The Adopt-a-State program provides a way for the private sector to get credit for the financial support they provide to help educators succeed in our ever changing standards-based education system,” explained Diny Golder, JES & Co.’s Executive Director.

In order for standards-based education to be successful, educators must have easy access to accurate standards and quality resources aligned to these standards. As the standards evolve and change over the years, this task can become quite complicated. The Adopt-a-State program from JES & Co. will help maintain each state’s current standards, setting educators and content providers up for success.

About the Achievement Standards Network

The Achievement Standards Network (ASN) is an open framework for the representation of educational expectations. The ASN provides for: (1) the text of an educational expectation; (2) rich metadata describing that expectation and its context; and (3) a description of relationships between the expectation being described and other related expectations. The ASN provides both a resolution service that returns machine-readable text and associated metadata, and Web Services that ease the network distribution of the achievement standards data. JES & Co. is the home for ASN-US, an open source repository of state and national education standards. Visit the ASN at:
