St. Edward’s University Selects Banner by Ellucian to Address Changing and Competitive Landscape

FAIRFAX, Va. – November 14, 2012 – St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas will implement Banner by Ellucian to help support its current and expanding enrollment and instructional programs.

The private Catholic university has experienced steady enrollment growth for the past several years. In addition, St. Edward’s has partner universities in 10 countries and is delivering an increasing number of courses through online learning. The institution began weighing ERP options in 2011 when it became apparent that its current administrative system could not meet its growing and changing needs.

“The university is very dynamic. We have experienced considerable growth in international partnerships, and will continue advancing to meet the evolving expectations for the delivery of higher education through online resources,” said David Waldron, vice president for information technology at St. Edward’s. “We feel confident in the underlying technology and that Banner by Ellucian will support us now and as we move forward. Also, the company has demonstrated through its evolution of the Ellucian Luminis Platform that it recognizes the importance of technology and functional development. We were also pleased that the company has international clients, which is important as we grow our global market.”

The university also expects to gain the following benefits:
• Increased capabilities for business intelligence and analysis to enable a more responsive and more competitive university.
• Improved quality and increased number of services available to online constituencies to support enrollment growth and help meet rising expectations.
• Improved services to students, faculty, and staff through the use of integrated administrative solutions.

“St. Edward’s is in an enviable position of ongoing growth; however, they have the challenge of delivering new and existing services without compromising their commitment to excellence,” said Bruce Bleiman, senior vice president, customer relationships, Ellucian. “We are pleased to partner with the university as they continue to evolve and meet new standards of distinction.”
