Turnitin Celebrates 20 Million Graded Papers in GradeMark

Florida professor grades 20 millionth paper and wins prize for herself and university

OAKLAND, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2012)Turnitin, the leader in originality checking and online grading, today announced that it reached a milestone of 20 million graded papers in its award-winning GradeMark tool on Oct. 4, 2012. To celebrate the milestone, Turnitin has awarded a prize to professor Tania Lopez and made a donation to the Florida International University Foundation.

“I was grading literacy narratives written by the students in my fully-online Writing & Rhetoric class,” said Lopez, an instructor at Florida International University. “Turnitin is a great learning tool that I’ve been using for years, and GradeMark allows me to leave more thoughtful feedback for my students.”

Lopez was presented with a check at a Turnitin user event in Miami on Oct. 9, 2012 as part of the Turnitin Teachers Tour.

“We’re happy to award professor Lopez and Florida International University with a $2,000 prize and donate an additional $2,000 to FIU Foundation for grading the 20 millionth paper,” said Ray Huang, Turnitin’s customer programs manager, as he presented the check to Lopez. “We’ve seen triple-digit growth in grading volume with GradeMark this school year as more and more instructors, like professor Lopez, are choosing to grade online.”
