Google has added an automatic translation feature to its Google Docs service, allowing users to translate documents into 42 languages, AFP reports. The "Tools" menu on Google Docs now includes a "Translate Document" feature, which provides a list of the various languages offered, running from Albanian to Icelandic to Vietnamese. A translation is done "in a matter of seconds," Google said in a blog post, and formatting and layout is preserved, whatever the language of the document. "Translations aren’t perfect, but we are continuously working on improving translation quality over time," Google said. Google Docs provides word processing, spreadsheet, and other programs hosted online. Google already has built automatic translation features into its popular email program and services such as its blog reader.
