The University of Iowa has tapped into podcasts as a new way to reach students and its broad base of constituents, reports the Iowa City Press-Citizen. The latest installment of the podcast series "Iowa Insights" is tailored to the start of the school year. "It’s another way to tell stories about the university," said Stephen Pradarelli, director of University News Services. "It’s another way to get our experts out there, other than our news releases." The August podcast features segments about reducing children’s first day of school anxiety with pediatrics professor Linda J. Cooper-Brown, addressing bullying with education assistant professor Malik Henfield, and discussing sports physicals for student-athletes with Ned Amendola, director of UI Sports Medicine. Each podcast features up to three, 3- to 5-minute video segments, Pradarelli said. UI began experimenting with the new format in May and has since put out a monthly podcast.
