Senate confirms new chairman to lead FCC


The Senate on June 25 approved former technology executive Julius Genachowski as chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, reports Bloomberg News. Senators also approved Robert M. McDowell to serve a second term on the commission, which regulates telephone, cable, and broadcast companies. Both nominees were confirmed by unanimous consent. The White House also said it has nominated Meredith Attwell Baker, a former telecommunications official who served in the National Telecommunications
