UoP, UC Berkeley establish transfer students agreement

Agreement will allow for transfer students to obtain a bachelor’s degree

University of the People (UoPeople) is partnering with the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley). According to the articulation agreement between the two Californian universities, UC Berkeley will consider qualified, top-performing UoPeople Associate’s degree graduates, who wish to transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree at Berkeley.

UoPeople is a nonprofit, tuition-free, accredited American online university, dedicated to opening access to higher education globally.

“We are thrilled to have this collaboration between UC Berkeley and University of the People,” said UoPeople President, Shai Reshef. “This recognition is the ultimate endorsement of the value of our degrees and it offers a great opportunity for our students. Now the most accomplished UoPeople students may be able to further pursue their dreams by attending one of the best universities in the world.”

“UC Berkeley welcomes the partnership with University of the People in considering highly qualified, top-performing UoPeople Associate’s degree graduates for transfer admission to complete a Bachelor’s degree at UC Berkeley. As a fellow Californian university, UoPeople’s mission is closely aligned with the mission of Berkeley, to open the gates to a quality higher education to every deserving student – with priority given to residents of California.” said UC Berkeley Chancellor Nicholas Dirks.

UoPeople recently made headlines for launching the first tuition-free, accredited online MBA degree, the latest addition to the university’s offerings of Associates and Bachelor’s programs in Business Administration and Computer Science, all accredited by the U.S. Distance Education and Accreditation Commission (DEAC). The university currently has over 3,000 enrolled students from 180 countries. It is expected that the fast-growing student-body will double in number over the next year.
