Sony’s Sony Research Program is an academic awards program giving North American universities funding for emerging and innovative technology research projects, and collaboration with Sony’s own research division. By fostering relationships with academic institutions, Sony aims to spearhead advanced research concepts and drive towards development, further demonstrating Sony’s vision of integrating creativity and innovation, through pioneering engineering. The program comprises two submission categories: Faculty Innovation Awards and the 2016 Focus Research Awards. Read more.

The nonprofit Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc., opened applications for its 2017 scholarship programs. With the goal of awarding nearly $14 million in undergraduate and graduate scholarships in 2017 to more than 1,800 students, the Association operates one of the largest privately funded, need-based scholarship programs in the country. Applications for national- and state-level scholarships are now being accepted through October 25, 2016. Read more.

A new undergraduate program that integrates the study of engineering and business launched today at the University of California, Berkeley. The Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology Program (M.E.T.) will be taught at Berkeley’s top-ranked Haas School of Business and College of Engineering. The M.E.T. Program is designed to give students a seamless understanding of technology innovation, preparing future leaders who will create real-world impact – be it at new start-ups, at social impact ventures or within established companies.
