Colorado Community College System supports successful student enrollment with improved availability

Colorado Community College SystemColorado Community College System’s web enrollment portal is the primary point of entry for students. It uses the Ellucian Banner Digital Campus application, which processes student information, payments, and financial aid data. During the peak enrollment periods in August and January, however, daily transaction volumes increased from about 50,000 to 117,000, and users were unable to access services owing to performance issues.

Working closely with Ellucian, HP suggested replicating the system’s infrastructure at its Application Solutions Center in Cupertino, Calif. Project managers found that by upgrading the infrastructure to HP ProLiant BladeSystem server blades and doubling the available memory, they were able to handle this increased load—while also expecting to save 35 percent on space, power, and cooling costs over time.

Solution Brief: Enabling better recruitment and retention at a lower TCO

Ellucian Banner and HPTo enable effective student support, you need to foster long-term relationships with students that extend well beyond graduation day. Cultivating those relationships is fundamental to establishing the reputation and reach of your institution.

The Ellucian Banner Enrollment Management Suite helps you attain these goals by providing a holistic view of each person’s relationship with your institution—enabling your recruiting, retention, and development teams to identify the specific needs of your constituents and make lasting connections to fulfill those needs. What’s more, Banner software running on HP Converged Infrastructure is highly scalable and agile—offering outstanding TCO and making a positive business impact on universities.
